What's New

๐Ÿš€ New

Today, we’re introducing new prototyping features that will help bring more of your interaction design ideas to life:
  • Smart Animate, a new transition type that automatically animates similar objects
  • Drag, a new interaction type that lets users control a transition with a drag of their finger
You can also now combine Smart Animate with existing transitions like Push, Move, or Slide to create more expressive animations.

Dig into these 10 prototype examples that showcase these advanced transitions. Interact with the prototype and inspect the file to see how they’re made. Also, head over to the blog to read what it was like designing for this popular feature request.

✅ Improvements

  • As part of the prototyping updates, we also revisited some of the fundamentals in Figma, like layer naming. We simplified rules for layer naming when duplicating layers.
  • We also changed the nested frames default to have no background instead of having a white background.
  • In prototyping mode, layers that match across frames will highlight on hover, which makes de-bugging and troubleshooting your animated prototypes much easier.
  • Lastly, we reorganized the overall prototyping UI.

 ๐Ÿ›Bug Fixes

  • Menu items such as Show Console now show up properly when searching for menu items.
